3 easy DIY wedding favors on a budget

Every bride has a picture of how they want their wedding to look and the procession to go. From the ceremony to the reception, everything needs to be perfect, but that’s often difficult to achieve on a budget. It doesn’t have to be so stressful though. These easy, DIY wedding favor ideas will be cute and memorable for your guests, while barely making a dent in your budget!

  • Sweets Jar

Materials needed:

  • Adhesives: like double-sided tape or strong glue.
  • A button
  • Candy (usually small jelly candy, but you can decide)
  • Glass jar with a cork
  • Ribbon

Instructions:

  • The jar can be any size you prefer, but usually the smaller the better. Fill the jar with candy.
  • Layer and adhere ribbon around the bottom base of the jar and do the same around the top of the jar. Ribbon is cheap, and you get to pick a coordinating color that matches your wedding theme.
  • Adhere the button to the top of the cork with hot/liquid glue.

Bonus tip!

  • This favor can also double as a place card! Simply write the guest’s name on card stock, hole punch it, and thread the ribbon through it before you tie it on the jar. Easy and efficient.
  • Wrapped Candles

Materials needed:

  • Craft scissors
  • Decorative paper
  • Double-sided tape
  • String/Ribbon
  • Ruler
  • Silk flowers
  • Taper candles: 4

Instructions:

  • Cut your decorative paper to size to wrap around the candles in a bundle. Layer and adhere it with double-sided tape. This will create a pretty band.
  • Tie your string/ribbon into a bow around the band.
  • Insert the silk flowers and you’re done!

Bonus tip!

  • If candles will not fit the theme of your wedding, you can replace it with other items like sparklers for the send-off or sugar coated stirring sticks for coffee and tea.
  • Playing card

Materials needed:

  • Craft scissors
  • Decorative paper
  • Glue stick
  • Letter stickers or small wooden letter blocks
  • Playing card

Instructions:

  • Trace a playing card (you can buy a cheap deck of cards for next to nothing!) onto decorative paper and then cut it out.
  • Adhere to the backside of the playing card with a glue stick.
  • Add sticker letters to the front of the playing card or stick wooden letter blocks to the front to spell out their name or whatever message you would like. Be sure to use very strong glue!

`           Bonus tip!

  • If you want a more elegant, vintage finish in the front, you can lightly sand the sides of the card or randomly apply ink to the edges by using a cosmetic sponge and an ink pad.

The best part about all three of these ideas is the simplicity. There is little time involved, few resources necessary, and a minimal cost. Every gift can also be customized to fit your theme.
